Gouge

Gouge is information pertinent to being a member of the United States Navy or Marine Corps and helps to instruct Midshipmen in their quest to be becoming officers. Midshipmen are required to be able to repeat, without hesitation, certain facts, principles, and guidelines to demonstrate that they have internalized the information. While gouge is generally only checked during inspections, Midshipmen are expected to know the information at all times and to be able to use and demonstrate the concepts taught to them.
