Interested Midshipmen are allowed the opportunity to gain practical skills in sailing. While changes in the Navy have long since rendered sailing a non-essential skill, it is still a very important part of a sea-farer's life. Sailing classes at the beginning and intermediate levels are offered to midshipmen so that they may advance themselves.
