NROTC UCB] generic NROTC UCB template
- Clip Art clip art on
the core values
- Decision Making Scenarios
from Navy Military Training; wearing dungarees at Taco Bell, falsifying PMS
evidence, sea story about telling new command that things are screwed up
-
navy heritage and core values - includes case study - from CPOIC.pdf CPOIC
= Chief Petty Officer's Indoctrination Course. Goes through core values
and how they relate to our naval heritage, and includes two case studies:
"The Webs We Weave" about a petty officer who is nice but drops the ball, and
"A Question of Values" about how to deal with a harassment complaint.
Also includes the Code of Conduct and more definitions of the core values
-
POIC course appendix C.pdf goes through two scenarios, designed to be
acted out by different people: scenario 1, about a new chief having to counsel
one of his former peers on coming to work late, and scenario 2, a continuation
of that scenario in which the chief talks with his division officer about the
previous scenario. I think the idea is for people to act out a scene "in
character," and then to have people comment on what they like/dislike about
those characters' actions, how they'd do things differently. What's nice
is that you're critiquing a character, not a real person in the room...the
danger is that things could get caricatured.
- Sea story about
responsibility.txt basically talking about going to the CO to inform him
that things are screwed up (good example of moral courage?)
- user's guide
to marine corps values.pdf a great document that defines the core values,
quotes from relevant documents, etc.
- COMMAND
LEADERSHIP COURSE segment 2-3 Lists relevant reading materials on
Ethics & Core Values; describes Admiral Stockdale's experience (with
discussion questions), three scenarios: scenario 1, scenario 2, scenario
3. Finally, has some interesting documents: "What you are is," which
tries to describe different value systems in the US over time, in a somewhat
simplistic fashion, "Info sheet 2-3-2," which describes the change in the
Navy's core values in 1992, "It's OK son, everybody does it," a story about a
boy who is brought up with bad ethical examples, and finally an "Outline"
which briefly covers ethics and core values, including a cool quote from
General MacArthur.
